we are all stuck in our piccolo greenhouse trying to concentrate on our studying while the rest of the world's yelling, screaming, swearing during the Italy vs Ghana match. unfortunately we failed to stream the match via the internet. sigh, we need a tv badly. i've had enough of seeing a delayed update on matchcast. bahhhhh.

seems like i haven't really mentioned our neighbours.
beside us is a dear old Sicillian lady who loves to take advantage of sweet, innocent, Asian girls. She buzzes our doorbell from time to time to ask for favours like getting amanda to wash her hands before helping her put on her pearl necklace, borrowing salt, helping her with bringing down trash, wanting us to go downstairs to help her purchase eye cream (coz our italian was so bad, we escaped with the convenience of failing to understand what she was trying to say). she even wanted to sell us a ring...and a plastic garden chair for 40 euros (?!?) Nowadays we close the door really speedily to avoid being in her presence. Well, she's still dear enough to give us a few packets of mocha coffee and a shopping bag. must give her credit for her genorosity. hurhur.

on the same floor is a family/couple? arguing from time to time, and it gets really scary because italians just love to express themselves in the most intense way. it was as if war broke out. fortunately for us, it's not a daily affair. seems like the wives can be really brutal to their husbands. 2 days ago in the supermarket, this old lady was commanding her husband who was tottering in front with a walking stick 'advanti!' repeatedly.(it means to advance) poor fella... he was being treated worse than a dog.

2 floors down - the amorous French guy who serenaded to Amanda while van n i were away in Munich. and he even tactlessly told her the sexual prowesses of various nationalities. the serenading part does sound sweet, but apparently his vocal prowess fails him greatly.

across us, are 'ali' and 'ahmad'. ok we've recently established that one of em is called Aziz. They constantly yell and make funny noises and walk around semi-naked. they seem to be of arab origin...we have our internal joke about how we could go over and have chicken masala and briyani. i suspect that they might have been the twits throwing various things into our balcony...seemingly terrorist acts.

the old lady who's the caretaker of the block...is perpetually grumpy. she doesn't really acknowledge our 'ciaos' or rather when she does, it's a 'hrumph' cum frown cum extreme look of displeasure. wassup man.

oh well. time to sleep....yay. one more oral exam and i'm done! then IT's WORLD CUP TIME! GO BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLL! *roars*
